Manchester United starlet Zidane Iqbal has been left out of the Iraq squad

Manchester United starlet Zidane Iqbal has decided to exclude his name from the Iraq squad for the upcoming Jordan International tournament.

As stated by the Manchester Evening News, the young midfielder has decided to focus on his development at United and has apologized to the manager for not joining the national side.

The 19-year-old has been a breakout star at Old Trafford since getting promoted to the senior team. He has shown glimpses of his spectacular talent in the pre-season games this summer.

Ten Hag preferred to play him alongside Charlie Savage and he impressed the manager with his level of maturity. Zidane Iqbal has been named on the bench against Sheriff and this was the second time this season that he has been named as a substitute.

He did make his debut against BSC Young Boys in 2020 and his has continued to grow since then. Currently, he has been named in the Europa League B side this season and that could earn him a chance to feature in the starting XI.

The Red Devils are closely monitoring his situation as the young starlet’s versatility could be improved even more. He has the skill of moving forward and also playing out wide even when he is given the responsibility of controlling the defensive midfield areas.

The Iraq star could be an asset in the future and his decision to stay at United would work wonders for him very soon.
