According to Fichajes, Manchester United are still desperate to sign Barcelona midfielder Frenkie de Jong next summer.
The 25-year-old was not acquired by United during the most recent transfer window. In the following year, the Old Trafford side will attempt to sign the Dutch international once more.
The Red Devils board had the former Ajax star on its radar for the whole 2022 summer. However, the deal fell through and Casemiro was then acquired from Real Madrid.
The Brazilian hasn’t yet been able to influence Erik ten Hag’s intentions, though. During his time in Spain, the 30-year-old established a reputation as one of the top defensive midfielders in the world.
However, Casemiro has not started a single game in the 2022–23 Premier League season. The only league in which the Brazilian has started is the Europa League.
In the most recent transfer window, United added a number of more players. Tyrell Malacia, Christian Eriksen, Lisandro Martinez, and Antony are just a few of the players who have emerged as key players.
As a result, it appears that Ten Hag is not currently fully satisfied with Casemiro. The former Madrid star has started behind Scott McTominay. Even though the Scotland international had a successful time with the team, many will agree that he is not even close to the Brazilian’s calibre.
The Red Devils’ midfield weaknesses were once again on display in their 6-3 loss to Manchester City. However, it is clear that United needs a player who can maintain possession of the ball in confined places.
