Manchester United Submit Statement After Paul Pogba Racial Abuse

Manchester United football club have released a statement which claims that they are looking to identify the individuals that have aimed the abhorrent racist chants towards French midfielder Paul Pogba following his penalty miss against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Monday night.

The Red Devils had the chance to go to the top of the Premier League table if they earned three points against Wolves at the Molineaux. Anthony Martial gave the visitors the lead in the first half but a stunning effort from Ruben Neves in the second half drew the hosts level at 1-1.

United’s ace midfielder Paul Pogba then showed some brilliance to earn a penalty but failed to convert from the spot as Wolves goalkeeper Ruben Neves made a splendid save to ensure that both sides shared the spoils.

But after the game ended, there were plenty of racial abuses hurled at Pogba due to his failure to convert the penalty and the 26-year-old was the prime target to those abuses. Earlier this week, Chelsea star Tammy Abraham faced a similar abusive situation on social media when he missed a decisive penalty against Liverpool in the UEFA Super Cup.

However, United has published an official statement that they will not tolerate any racial behavior and the club will look to find the guilty party as they are disgusted by these incidents, “Everyone at Manchester United is disgusted by the racial abuse aimed at Paul Pogba last night and we utterly condemn it. The individuals who expressed these views do not represent the values of our great club and it is encouraging to see the vast majority of our fans condemn this on social media also. Manchester United has zero-tolerance of any form of racism or discrimination and a long-standing commitment to campaigning against it through our #AllRedAllEqual initiative.”
