As reported by the Sun, Manchester United is targetting £60 million rated Fulham midfielder Joao Palhinha this summer.
United has reportedly been putting all its efforts into selecting transfer targets for the forthcoming summer transfer season. This summer, they apparently want to add a solid defensive midfielder, and Palhinha has emerged as a serious target.
This season, the 27-year-old has been in outstanding form for Fulham, proving to be an effective defensive midfielder in front of the back four.
He doesn’t press very often, yet he has scored three goals in 26 Premier League games. United is impressed by Palinha’s style of play and is interested in signing him. They adore his defensive prowess and the way he keeps the balance in the middle of the field. According to rumours, United is willing to spend a sizable fee to persuade Fulham to release their midfield anchor.
Palhinha paid €20 million to Sporting CP last summer and his contract is valid until 2027. Also, Fulham has already targeted Porto star Mateus Uribe as his replacement.
Lazio and Atletico Madrid are expected to compete for the 32-year-old’s services, but Fulham is optimistic that they have lured him to play in the Premier League.
Fulham is aware that it will be difficult to keep hold of the 27-year-old this summer. United could approach Palhinha in the upcoming weeks.
