Manchester United target Houssem Aouar could sign for Real Betis this summer as a free agent, according to The Goal.
And it appears that the Red Devils won’t get the deal, as Aouar is reportedly poised to move to Spain. The player has already visited the city, and he and the Andalusian club have reached an agreement.
If the La Liga side is successful in signing the Olympique Lyon midfielder, then they will defeat the likes of Arsenal and AC Milan, two elite clubs that are rumoured to be interested in him.
The 24-year-old would be joining fellow Lyon player Nabil Fekir if he decides to sign for Betis this summer. After playing less than 400 minutes of game time for Lyon this season, Aouar will be aiming to kickstart his career with Betis. The French star was linked with a move to Arsenal last summer, but the move failed to materialize.
Eventually, United entered the race and were given the chance to sign him by his parent club. Christian Eriksen’s injury gave United an excellent chance to sign a replacement.
However, United never talked with his representatives, and instead, they decided to pursue Bayern Munich star Marcel Sabitzer. The German midfielder joined as a free agent for a six-month spell with no buy option included in the deal.
