Manchester United target Ruben Neves remains coy over his future at Wolves

Manchester United target Ruben Neves remained coy over his future at Wolves amid speculation linking him with a move to Old Trafford in this summer’s transfer window.

The Portugal international midfield man is understood to be one of the names on the new United head coach Eric ten Hag’s shopping list should he fail to bring in top target Frenkie de Jong from FC Barcelona.

Chelsea are now reportedly in ‘direct talks’ with the Barca camp to sign the midfielder who has played the waiting game on sealing a move to United this summer with De Jong showing reluctance to sign for Ten Hag’s side.

Neves’ current terms at Wolves are due to expire in 2024 and it will surely take a lucrative offer from the Red Devils to land the 25-year-old’s signature and add to their midfield ranks which could do with a fresh face before the next season kicks off.

Speaking to The Athletic, Neves admitted that he cannot rule out the possibility of leaving the Molineux fold with the player’s remarks likely to suggest he is keen on seeking greener pastures sooner rather than later.

“Everyone knows about what football is about, what our lives are about.

“Our careers are really short, we need to take the opportunities we have.

“Of course, all of us have dreams and we need to live those dreams in a short space of time. Let’s see what happens. I cannot say too much about it.”
