Long-term Manchester United target Youri Tielemans has hinted at a summer transfer. This summer, the Leicester City midfielder has been linked with a transfer away from the King Power Stadium.
Because Tielemans’ contract expires in 2023 and he refuses to sign a new one, Leicester may be forced to sell him in order to avoid losing out on a transfer fee next year.
Arsenal and Manchester United have been prominently linked, with reports mentioning Liverpool as well. Leicester will still try to tie Tielemans to a new contract, but it appears like he is ready to go up.
And, despite transfer rumours circulating, the Belgian has stated that no decision has been taken yet.
As reported by the Express, he said:
“That [a move] is not out of the question. But I can also stay. I feel very good at Leicester, I was welcomed with open arms from day one. I give everything for the club until the last day.”
“But of course, you have to listen to other opportunities, you have to look at your career, and sometimes you have to make choices. Maybe one will come my way.”
Youri Tielemans has been with Leicester since January 2019, originally on loan before signing a permanent deal. He has made 120 Premier League games in total since then, including a significant role in the club’s FA Cup-winning campaign last season.
Manchester United will be without the services of Paul Pogba and Nemanja Matic next season.
Therefore, it is an absolute necessity for them to fill in the defensive midfield position. As things stand, Frenkie de Jong and Milinkovic Savic are two players who have been consistently linked with the club.
