As stated by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United are determined to prevent any disruptions to their squad’s salary structure akin to what occurred with Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival.
To maintain stability, the club recently secured Marcus Rashford’s services by signing him to a new five-year contract.
With a weekly salary of £325,000, Rashford becomes the highest earner in the squad, surpassing Casemiro’s earnings. The move is aimed at ensuring a balanced and sustainable salary framework for the team.
United believes that Rashford’s contract renewal reflects his status as one of the top attackers in Europe, entering the prime years of his career. The 25-year-old’s new deal includes significant performance-based incentives.

The club is keen to avoid creating wage disparities within the squad, as was the case with Ronaldo’s return to United in 2021 when he received a weekly salary of £480,000.
A 25% pay cut he took following the team’s failure to qualify for the Champions League played a part in his desire to leave last summer. Ronaldo’s different treatment created some issues among certain teammates.
Despite the negotiations for Rashford’s new contract taking some time, reliable sources state that the discussions between United’s football director John Murtough and the striker’s brother and agent, Dwaine Maynard, were relatively drama-free.
Last August, Rashford’s agent, Dwaine Maynard, had a meeting with officials from Paris Saint-Germain, which was viewed as unwise by a source close to Rashford at the time.
Despite his desire to remain at Man United, Rashford briefly considered his future when interim manager Ralf Rangnick left him on the bench for the Manchester derby in March 2022.

Several other forwards, including Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, Anthony Martial, and Mason Greenwood, were unavailable for the match.
Earlier this year, United reached new contract agreements with Luke Shaw, Alejandro Garnacho, and Diogo Dalot.
