The latest draws are in and Manchester United will play host to Premier League rivals Aston Villa in the third round of the Carabao Cup. The club’s official website has revealed our new opponents for the Cup clash.
The draw took place after Newcastle United defeated Tranmere Rovers with a 2-1 scoreline in the previous round. The Red Devils entered the third round due to their qualification in the European competitions.
United will hope that they don’t face a drastic fate as they had suffered last season in the third round through the hands of David Moyes’s West Ham United. Manuel Lanzini’s heroics gave a resounding win for the Hammers.
This time they will face Blackburn at the London Stadium. Meanwhile, winners Liverpool will face Derby County and the much-awaited match will be played between Manchester City and Chelsea.

The last time United played out a 2-2 draw against Villa was in the preseason game. Ten Hag’s side threw away a comfortable lead at the very last minute and the manager will make sure his team doesn’t commit the same mistakes again.
The draw will be played on the 8th of November at Old Trafford. The two sides will be facing each other just two days prior in a league match on the 5th of November at Villa Park.
Erik ten Hag would be looking forward to a good run in the Cup competitions after a shaky start to the season in the Premier League. The club also has the Europa League in their sight and needs to get out of the group stages of the competition.
