The Uefa has confirmed that Manchester United will meet Atletico Madrid in the Champions League round of 16 after Ralf Rangnick’s side was originally drawn to face Paris Saint-Germain.
The initial last-16 draw was deemed void after a “technical error” involving Atletico Madrid, Liverpool, and Manchester United, according to UEFA.
Three hours later, the re-draw took place, with Liverpool facing Serie A champions Inter Milan, Chelsea facing Ligue 1 winners Lille (as they had done in the original draw), and Manchester City facing Sporting Lisbon.
United appeared to have been given the best break after being drawn against PSG in the first round, but a meeting with Atletico Madrid in European competition for the first time since 1991 will still be a tough test.
Meanwhile, Real Madrid will be the most upset by the miscalculation, as they were originally scheduled to play Benfica but will now face PSG.

In other news, Liverpool’s reward for being the first English team to win all six Champions League group games is a draw with Inter, who won Serie A last season and are presently in first place after 17 games.
Chelsea was drawn against Lille in both the original and rescheduled draws. City, who were beaten in the final last season, will play Sporting for the first time since they met in the Europa League nine years ago.
The last-16 matches will be played over two weeks, with the opening legs on February 15-16 and February 22-23. The second leg will be held on March 8-9 and March 15-16, respectively.
