Amid heavy interest from Manchester United, North London outfit Arsenal has set an asking price of £56 million for their star forward Pierre Emerick Aubameyang if he is going to leave the club this summer transfer window.
Red Devils manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already made an impact in the summer transfer market in order to reinforce his Manchester United squad that finished in sixth place by bringing in star winger Daniel James from Swansea City. The Red Devils are also closing in on a deal for Crystal Palace defender Aaron Wan Bissaka but the Norwegian boss is not ending his wishlist just yet.
In a few surprising reports, Manchester United have been linked with a move for Arsenal talisman Pierre Emerick Aubameyang in order to replace the departing Romelu Lukaku. Lukaku has failed to win over the fans and hearts of the United faithful and a move away from Old Trafford for the Belgian striker to the San Siro is in the process of taking place.
Aubameyang, on the other hand, has had quite a prolific goalscoring run at Arsenal since his move from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund back in January 2018 for a transfer fee of €63.8 million. The 30-year-old also won the Golden Boot as he netted 22 goals for Arsenal in the Premier League this season.
But there is lack of silverware as a unit at Arsenal and that is something disappointing Aubameyang and the Gabonese attacker has been linked with a move to either the Chinese Super League or joining arch-rivals Manchester United this summer.
The 20-time Premier League champions are looking to swoop in for Aubameyang and have made an approach to sign the goalscoring sensation. Although Arsenal was initially disinterested in selling their prized asset to Old Trafford the Gunners have now reportedly quoted an asking price of £56 million as a minimum for Aubameyang.
Arsenal has a relatively low transfer budget for the summer window and they have only around £45 million to spend and this set back may cause the club to offload a few players as well in the summer.
