Manchester United urged to sign Philippe Coutinho

According to former Manchester United star Owen Hargreaves, the Red Devils should opt to sign Brazilian playmaker Phillippe Coutinho in the summer.

Following his big-money move to Barcellona from Liverpool in the January transfer window of 2018, Coutinho has struggled to display the same form he once displayed at Anfield. At one time, Coutinho was the catalyst for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp’s side that were blowing teams away with their attacking brilliance. Coutinho was at the heart of pulling the strings during his stint at Merseyside.

Alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez though, Coutinho has failed to live up the hype that followed after his move to the Camp Nou. After 18 months of struggling to adapt to life at Barcelona, the midfielder was loaned out to Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich earlier this season.

Still, Coutinho is unable to reach the heights he once peaked while in the Premier League with Liverpool but Man United legend Owen Hargreaves believes there Coutinho has plenty left to offer.

Bayern Munich are also not considering the option to purchase Coutinho and return him to Barcelona, who incidentally was hoping to offload the 28-year-old.

While speaking to BT Sport, Hargreaves explained why Coutinho should return to the English top tier and Manchester United should make a bid for the Brazilian as he professed his admiration for the former Liverpool talisman, “I love his game, I love him as a player. He is obviously going through a bit of a tough time after leaving Liverpool. Barca didn’t work and Bayern hasn’t really worked, but there is still plenty of time and I would never count him out. I would love to see him back in the Premier League. He makes a lot of teams better. Premier League teams are probably the only ones with the capacity to sign him and, let’s be honest when he was here he was a dream to watch.”
