Manchester United vs Aston Villa Preview | EFL Cup

On Thursday, Manchester United will host Aston Villa for the second time in five days in a Carabao Cup match at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag will be looking for a reaction from his team after they were defeated 3-1 by Unai Emery’s team at Villa Park on Sunday in the Premier League.

And, with this being our final home game before the World Cup, the players will undoubtedly want to leave the Theatre of Dreams on a high note.
Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Bruno Fernandes were all absent for Sunday’s game in the West Midlands, but the latter will be available for Thursday’s game after serving a one-match suspension in the Premier League.

Philippe Coutinho and Diego Carlos are both injured for the visitors’ trip to Old Trafford. United’s most recent Premier League match was against Villa, which was Emery’s first as manager of the West Midlands club. The Reds were defeated 3-1 by goals from Leon Bailey, Lucas Digne, and Jacob Ramsey.

This defeat ended United’s nine-match unbeaten streak in all competitions, and Ten Hag will be looking to get back on track when the teams meet again on Thursday. This week’s Carabao Cup fixtures are spread across Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. The Reds aren’t the only Premier League club facing a rival, with Manchester City facing Chelsea in a highly anticipated match.
