Manchester United vs Burnley: Player Ratings

Manchester United hosted Burnley earlier tonight at Old Trafford in the hopes of securing all three points on the road. The host team got off to a flying start and took the lead in the eighth minute when Scott McTominay scored with a superb finish.

In the 27th minute, Ben Mee scored an unlucky own goal, putting the game out of reach. Only eight minutes later, Cristiano Ronaldo scored to make the score 3-0 in Man United’s favour. Soon after, Aaron Lennon equalized for the Clarets, and the Red Devils went into the halftime break with a 3-1 lead.

In front of their home fans, the Mancunian giants held on to their lead in the second half and earned a solid 3-1 victory.

Let’s take a look at how each Manchester United player fared against the Clarets:

David de Gea: 6/10

The Spaniard produced a number of good saves, but his ball distribution was a little sloppy. He won’t be happy after allowing a goal late in the first half, sabotaging his chances of keeping a clean sheet.

Aaron Wan-Bissaka: 7/10

He was a rock at the back and created a few good chances in the final third for his teammates.

Eric Bailly: 6.5/10

Bailly regained possession for his team on a couple of occasions and even made a good block. In the 65th minute, he was replaced.

Harry Maguire: 7/10

When clearing his lines, the English center-back didn’t take any chances. He also won a number of aerial headers.

Luke Shaw: 7.5/10

He did a good job on defense and set up a few great scoring opportunities for his teammates.

Scott McTominay: 8/10

McTominay was always eager to take risks and scored an excellent first goal in the eighth minute. Ralf Rangnick should be pleased with his showing tonight.

Nemanja Matic: 6/10

The Serbian international did his job in the center of the field, but he didn’t contribute much in the final third.

Mason Greenwood: 7.5/10

Greenwood’s dribbling and link-up play in and around the Burnley penalty area caused a lot of issues for the opponents. Tonight, however, he was unable to score.

Jadon Sancho: 6.5/10

The English winger had a few entertaining moments but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Edinson Cavani: 7/10

The Uruguayan striker tried his hardest to cause the Burnley defenders problems, but he barely had a shot on goal.

Cristiano Ronaldo: 8/10

Ronaldo was always willing to take a shot at a goal and set up two good chances for his teammates. For his efforts, he has a goal and an assist to show for it.

Substitutes:

Raphael Varane: 6/10

He made a swift return from his injury. At the back, he made sure everything was in order.

Diogo Dalot: 6/10

After coming on for the final ten minutes, he won an aerial duel.

Fred: N/A

After coming off the bench, the Brazilian midfielder barely had a kick in the game.
