Manchester United vs Crystal Palace: Report | Premier League 2018/19

Old Trafford welcomed the Eagles who had never won a game against the Red Devils in previous 18 Premier League meeting. Matteo Darmian was awarded a start in the team for second time this season playing in place of suspended Luke.

The start looked lively for United, dull was their game down the time. But there stood Ex-Red Zaha causing threat with his curls and twirls. But little did United know that at the final whistle the game would end 0-0, and it would be their worst start to the season in 28 years.

A supposedly fragile opponent before the start, Palace created a plenty chances towards Stretford end than they would have been expected to. Wilfried Zaha, visitors lead aspect casted problems with his confidence. A curl in 20th minute almost got the breakthrough for Palace.

United did get a chance or two but none even close to being scored. Just before half-time Palace almost pierced through United’s heart when Kouyate headed home but was judged offside by the linesman.

At the break, the teams jogged down with no goals against their name. The scenes were same in the second half, United’s dreadful attack searching for space in opponents half was never successful in finding one.

United’s best chance came in the second half when Young’s set piece was deflected by Hennessey to provide a tap in to Lukaku who was adjudged offside albeit marginally.

Towards the end, United did sweat their souls to score but were consistently denied by hefty defence of Eagles. A presentable attitude towards the end was shown by Lindelof when the Swedish was almost injured but did not lose his pace, although limping.

What could have been a three point walkable win for United was a rather disappointing result, losing two points and gaining one.
