Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s Red Devils will return to Premier League action on Sunday as they host Merseyside outfit Everton in a race to claim a top four spot.
In the reverse fixture last season, it ended in tears for United and their fans as the English giants were thrashed 4-0 at the Goodison Park but United are unbeaten in six home games against the Toffees winning five of them and Solskjaer will hope to continue their impressive run.
The United players need to give it their all, especially after having 3 convincing wins on the bounce against Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester City, and AZ Alkmaar. Attacking play will have to be clinical from the home side as Everton are likely to sit back and counter with their pacey and physical forwards. Everton sacked Marco Silva earlier last month and has since been replaced by Duncan Ferguson on a temporary basis. The Scotsman will be seeking to have a 2nd consecutive win under his belt after the win against high flying Chelsea and it is clear that he will set up his team to get all three points.
Moving on with the team news, Manchester United are still without Paul Pogba, Eric Bailly, Timothy Fosu-Mensah and Diogo Dalot for the weekend’s encounter. English midfielder Jesse Lingard also faces a late fitness test to see whether he will be ready for the game.
For the visitors, Andre Gomes is still out injured and Theo Walcott is also on the sidelines with him. The defensive trio of Seamus Coleman, Yerry Mina, and Fabian Delph are all doubts but are back in training for Duncan Ferguson while left-back Lucas Digne is fighting the race against time to be fit for Sunday’s showdown.
