The Red Devils will welcome Serbian side Partizan Belgrade to Old Trafford for Thursday night Europa League Group L encounter.
Manchester United claimed a 1-0 victory in Serbia in their reverse Europa League match against Partizan and another win this time around would guarantee their qualification to the knockout stages.
English forward Marcus Rashford, Swedish center-back Victor Lindelof and world’s most expensive defender Harry Maguire all played in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat against Bournemouth, despite initial fears they had picked up knocks in the previous League Cup clash against Chelsea.
However, French midfielder Paul Pogba is expected to remain out until December as he nurses an ankle injury, and Luke Shaw, Nemanja Matic, and Axel Tuanzebe are expected to be out of action until after the international break. Diogo Dalot could also miss Thursday’s clash due to injury, and the long-term absentees include Eric Bailly and Timothy Fosu-Mensah. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has hinted that he will rotate his side in the European competition this season and could do likewise for Thursday’s fixture
Solskjaer’s side is currently sitting at the top of Group L with an unbeaten record from their first three Europa League games, and the Red half of Manchester are yet to concede a goal in the competition this season. United also boasts a relatively strong home record in all competitions this year, with only one defeat at Old Trafford throughout the campaign.
Partizan sits third in the group going into Matchday four following a 2-2 draw against AZ Alkmaar in their opening game, and that was rounded up with an impressive 2-1 victory over Astana and then a defeat to United in their last game. The visiting team is currently fourth in the Serbian SuperLiga table, with nine wins, two draws and three defeats from their first 14 games of this term.
