Manchester United vs RB Leipzig Player Ratings | UCL 2020-21

Manchester United thrashed RB Leipzig, beyond anyone’s expectations with Champions League nights coming back to Old Trafford for the first time in a couple of years. The Red Devils turned up again in a big game with several players putting in a real shift. Almost all the Manchester United players had a great game, as they battered RB Leipzig, scoring five past the German club.

Let us now have a look at the player ratings of all the Manchester United players, who played last night in the win against RB Leipzig.

DAVID DE GEA – 7

The Spaniard barely had to do anything in between the sticks last night as he got his second consecutive clean sheet. He made a great point-blank save, which kept Manchester United’s lead intact.

AARON WAN-BISSAKA – 7

The right-back had a good game defensively, keeping Angelino at bay. But Wan-Bissaka could not help in the attacking transition for the Red Devils.

VICTOR LINDELOF – 7

Victor Lindelof had another solid game at the centre of the defence, keeping the Leipzig strikers at bay. But it was his passing that let him down, as he gave the ball away in a couple of dangerous areas.

HARRY MAGUIRE – 8

It was a captain’s performance by Harry Maguire as he was solid defensively but also kept the ball well in tight situations. His passing range helped United get out of Leipzig’s high press.

LUKE SHAW – 6

Luke Shaw looked mediocre last night and confirmed the fact that he isn’t very good going forward. Defensively he didn’t have to do a lot and stopped his opposing full-back and winger.

NEMANJA MATIC – 6

Nemanja Matic started a game for the first time after the loss to Tottenham and looked off the pace. The Serbian barely managed to have influence over the game and was ultimately taken off for McTominay.

FRED – 8

Everyone is slowly and gradually starting to understand Fred’s value in the Manchester United side. Out of the five goals United scored last night, Fred was involved in four of them by nicking the ball off the opposition. He was superb throughout the game and his energy in the midfield won United the game.

PAUL POGBA – 9

Paul Pogba was too good to handle for the Leipzig midfield and defence as the swayed away past the opposition when he had the ball. His assist to Greenwood perfectly waited after he danced past a couple of challenges. He seems ready to start again for Manchester United.

DONNY VAN DE BEEK – 7

Van de Beek finally got his first start for the Red Devils in the Champions League but could impact the team’s performance in the way he would have liked to. The Dutchman had a good game overall but was taken off for Bruno Fernandes.

MASON GREENWOOD – 7

Mason Greenwood started Manchester United’s scoring in the game, as he scored off his first shot in the Champions League. Greenwood could’ve been better as he was later taken off.

ANTHONY MARTIAL – 8

Anthony Martial opened his account for the season, as he scored one and assisted Rashford’s third goal as well. The Frenchman held the ball well and had a good game overall.

SUBSTITUTES

MARCUS RASHFORD – 10

Marcus Rashford was surely the best player of the game as he got a hattrick in only about 30 minutes. All the three goals were clinical finishes by the Englishman as he finished off Leipzig.

BRUNO FERNANDES – 8

Bruno Fernandes had a good 30 minutes with an almost no-look assist for Marcus Rashford’s first goal. He instilled the drive for Manchester United as the latter flurry for the Red Devils stamped their authority.

SCOTT MCTOMINAY – 7

Scott McTominay came on for Matic and was good in the midfield pivot along with Fred. The Scot had a good game overall as he answers his critics.

EDINSON CAVANI – N/A

Came on late in the game to have an impact.

AXEL TUANZEBE – N/A

Came on late and looked assured at the back.
