Manchester United vs Sheffield United – Man United Predicted Lineups | EPL 2020-21

Manchester United are still at the top of the Premier League table and look to extend their lead even more against Sheffield United. The Red Devils host the Blades in the midweek fixture as Sheffield look to add to their miserable tally of five points in the league. The Manchester side might take this as an opportunity to rest some players as they played Liverpool a couple of days ago and will face Arsenal this weekend.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer must be credited for the success of the Red Devils as he is one of the main reasons for their climb up the Premier League table. The Liverpool win would have brought even more confidence to the players in the squad. There is a lot of possibilities that Solskjaer will chop and change his side and rest players for the Arsenal game.

Let us now have a look at how Ole Gunnar Solskjaer might set his Manchester United side against Sheffield United in the Premier League.

THE 4-2-3-1

With Ole adamant about keeping the top spot in the Premier League table, Manchester United will be expected to start with a very strong and attacking lineup. Alex Telles is likely to start the game as Luke Shaw has played a lot of games recently and Telles will be perfect for Sheffield. The Blades will be expected to sit deep and defend which will allow Telles to join the attack and bombard the box with crosses.

Fred and Pogba will be expected to play as the midfield pivot and even Matic might play a part instead of Fred. Pogba has been superb in the recent past and his performances prove the fact that he is a world-class player who can do it all. Rashford was taken off during the game against Liverpool due to a nibble and might be rested to avoid aggravation.

Anthony Martial will be a perfect replacement for Rashford and his trickery and skill on the ball will play a role against Sheffield United.

THE 4-4-2 (DIAMOND)

The 4-4-2 (Diamond) system with the personnel shown above is arguably Manchester United most attacking side possible. The likes of Van de Beek, Pogba and Bruno Fernandes in the midfield should cause havoc in the opposition defence. This system will also have Nemanja Matic as the defensive midfielder as he is the best defensive midfielder in the squad when it comes to distributing the ball and screening the defence.

Edinson Cavani has been fantastic since joining the Red Devils and has scored important goals for the club and will be expected to extend his stay at Manchester. He has also added the physical presence to United’s attack, they have lacked for the past couple of seasons.  Mason Greenwood could be another player who will be starting after his good performance against Liverpool in the FA Cup.

THE 3-5-2

The 3-5-2 is the only other system Solskjaer has used at Manchester United but it is highly unlike for him to use it against Sheffield United. The Blades use the 3-5-2 themselves but United will be expected to play much expansive football. The Red Devils should win this game but the last time these sides faced each other, it wasn’t pretty for Manchester United.
