Manchester United vs Wolves: Match Preview

Despite a post-Christmas slump, Manchester United is in good form as they prepare to face the Wolves at Old Trafford on Monday.

After a poor performance on Tyneside, the Red Devils drew with Newcastle the day after Boxing Day, but a hammering of Burnley has revived emotions, and Ralf Rangnick’s side is now unbeaten since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s departure on November 20th.

As he chases a strong second half of his United debut season, Jadon Sancho is sneaking into form, which will excite fans and staff alike.

In 2021/22, the Wolves remain a tight ship. In the last seven games involving Wolves, only five goals have been scored. Bruno Lage will be looking for a similarly focused performance here to challenge any potential storm from Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates.

Manchester United:

Bruno Fernandes will return from suspension against Wolves at Old Trafford on Monday.

After receiving his fifth booking of the season earlier in the week at Newcastle, the Portuguese were unable to play in Thursday’s 3-1 triumph over Burnley.

Victor Lindelof is expected to return after testing positive for Covid-19, and Raphael Varane is expected to start in place of Eric Bailly, who is off to the Africa Cup of Nations and has picked up an injury. Midfielder Paul Pogba is still recovering from his thigh injury.

Doubtful: Lindelof

Injured: Pogba

Suspended: None

Wolves:

Bruno Lage of the Wolves is still waiting to hear who will be available following the coronavirus. Wolves’ game against Arsenal on Tuesday was postponed due to an epidemic inside the squad, and he will review them over the weekend.

Wolves players, Jonny (knee injury), Neto (knee injury), Hwang(hamstring issue), Mosquera (hamstring issue), and Boly (calf injury) are all out, with Ait-Nouri dealing with a groin issue.

Our Prediction for the match:

Manchester United may have won convincingly against Burnley, but old problems remain. Individual brilliance is still expected to bail them out, and Manchester United fans have yet to see Rangnick’s renowned pressing style in action. Burnley’s victory was crucial, however, given their poor performance against Newcastle United.

Boubacar Kamara of Marseille and Denis Zakaria of Borussia Monchengladbach have been singled out, with Jude Bellingham and Declan Rice regarded as untouchables during this transfer window.

Wolverhampton Wanderers, on the other hand, are now in eighth place in the Premier League, and Bruno Lage has done an excellent job since taking over as manager. Goalkeeper Jose Sa and attacker Hwang, who was signed in the summer, have put in some strong performances, while Adama Traore continues to do what he does well.

The Lille combo of Sven Botman and Renato Sanches has been connected with the club again, suggesting some incomings in January.

On paper, Manchester United has enough to beat Wolverhampton Wanderers.

Our Score: Manchester United 2-0 Wolves
