Manchester United willing to pay only £5 million loan fee for Joao Felix

According to The Express, Manchester United and Joao Felix have held recent discussions as they explore ways to bring Joao Felix to Old Trafford this month.

The Portugal international will be permitted to leave Atletico Madrid on loan after forming a rift with Diego Simeone. Given the enormous investment required, joining the Premier League is not at all easy.

United is aware of their weak attacking option with Anthony Martial serving as their lone primary striker since Cristiano Ronaldo left at the end of last year.

And it looks like Felix is another player being considered, despite the fact that they have already been linked with Alvaro Morata and Memphis Depay. In an effort to strengthen their frontline, United recently held discussions with the 23-year-old’s agency.

Despite scoring four goals in La Liga this season, Felix is free to depart Atletico this month because of his deteriorating relationship with Simeone. Atletico, though, is asking for £18 million to part with their prized asset, and United is currently unwilling to agree to their terms.

However, it will be interesting to see what unfolds over the next few days and weeks. The Red Devils believe £5 million is a more reasonable price.

This news will not be a big one to hear for the fans, as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s management team had already kept an eye on the Portugal international. They were considering a transfer during the time Felix was impressing for Benfica in Portugal and drawing attention from numerous elite teams.

But ultimately, no deal was made, and the Portugal international joined Atletico in 2019 for a staggering £114 million.
