Manchester United Wont Be Signing Harry Maguire This Summer?

The latest reports have claimed that Manchester United’s hopes of signing Leicester City star Harry Maguire are diminishing with every passing day as the defender looks set to play for the Foxes in the upcoming season.

It’s quite obvious that Manchester United needs to strengthen their backline if they are to stand any chance of winning silverware over the next few seasons. The English giants endured quite a torturous season last term as they finished in sixth place in the Premier League and club manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a big job on his hands.

United was linked with a move to sign Leicester City central defender Harry Maguire in the summer transfer window but that move looks to be put in some jeopardy following the light of recent events. There is no denying that United are keen on snapping up a deal for Maguire but the Englishman is arguably one of the most valuable assets at the King Power Stadium and will not leave the club for a cheap price.

United will have to splash out around £80 million to secure the services of Maguire at Old Trafford and Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers revealed that the Red half of Manchester are nowhere close to negotiating a deal with Maguire in terms of matching his price tag.

The 26-year-old Maguire also put in clinical performance for the Foxes in their preseason game against Cambridge United last night and scored a wonderful header as well. The Leicester faithful were chanting for Maguire to remain with the Foxes throughout the game and after his goal, he pointed towards the fans and gave them a thumbs-up sign. He also posted a message on social media which further put in doubt a move away to Old Trafford.

United can still spend the transfer funds to snap up Maguire this summer but certainly, the 20-time Premier League champions would not want to overspend and allow the other clubs to take advantage of their situation.

However, recent reports claim that Solskjaer is also looking at other options instead of signing Maguire and lining up possible moves for Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld, Benfica’s Ruben Dias and Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic as alternatives.
