Manchester United’s game against Preston has been cancelled

Man United’s game against Preston has been called off due to the recent Covid outbreak in their training camp. As reported by the club’s official website, the suspected players and staff have been told to quarantine themselves and strict safety will be followed.

Up to nine players have been suspected to be tested positive for the virus and therefore United’s game against Preston on Sunday has been canceled.

The statement from the club read: “Following routine testing of the first-team training group today (Thursday), we have identified a small number of suspected positive cases. This has led to those people isolating, pending further tests. As a precautionary measure based on COVID protocols, we have taken the difficult decision that we will not now be able to play the friendly match against Preston North End this Saturday (31 July).”

As stated by the club, the fans who have booked the ticket for the friendly match will get their complete refund. Meanwhile, United will play their final preseason game against Everton on the 7th of August and the updates regarding the match will be provided in the coming days.

This is not the first time that teams have suffered such Covid outbreaks. Chelsea and Arsenal have faced similar problems in the month of July and were unable to complete their matches.

This is not the only game that has been canceled. Norwich City’s match against Sheffield United has also been called off due to the Covid outbreak.

Manchester United will play their opening match of the 2021/22 PL season against Leeds United and we hope that the much-anticipated match doesn’t face any disruptions.
