Hannibal Mejbri is one of the most talented youngsters in the world and has been touted to make his first-team debut next season. The 17-year old Frenchman joined United from Monaco last year for a reported fee of €10m, which was considered a bargain. Recently, United’s u-23 coach, Neil Wood, has given his honest opinion about the teenager and has revealed some of United’s plans for Mejbri.
It was earlier reported that Solskjaer wants Mejbri to train with the first-team squad next season. The manager doesn’t want to send Mejbri on loan and wants him to develop at Old Trafford, after playing with the u-23s. The 17-year old has played five games for United in the Premier League 2 and has provided three assists, this season.
In his latest conversation with MEN Sport, Neil Wood has said: “I think what you need to remember is Hannibal is still a young lad, he is only 17. We still need to get him to a higher level to get him to even go and train with the first-team, so there is no rush to start pushing him in that first-team environment right now.”
If trained and guided well, Mejbri has all the potential to reach the very top level. But until then we must not burden the shoulders of the young 17-year old.
