Manchester United’s signings this season | EPL 19-20

Manchester United FC are currently placed in the fifth position in the Premier League table this season. The Red Devils are only one point off the top-four spots with Leicester City only a point ahead of United. The team is on a 16 match unbeaten run and a lot of credit can be given to the new signings, the club made this season.

In the summer transfer window, the Red Devils had secured the services of Harry Maguire, Daniel James and Aaron Wan Bisakka. And again in the January transfer window, United had to get in Odion Ighalo and Bruno Fernandes, due to the lack of goals. It is safe to say that all the signings have been good and have had a great impact.

Harry Maguire is the club captain of Manchester United, in only his first season at the club. He was brought from Leicester City with a price tag of £80m, which is the world-record fee for a defender. Harry has steadied a sinking at Old Trafford by providing the much-needed defensive solidity in the centre-back berth.

Harry has also scored important goals in the Premier League and the FA Cup to keep United’s hopes alive in both competitions. His tackling and speed, at times, have let him down, but the United captain looks set in Old Trafford for a long time.

Daniel James was brought to the Theatre of Dreams from Swansea, due to his explosive pace and directness. His pace has wrecked damage to sides that maintain possession but has failed against teams with low blocks. But in his first season at the Premier League, the Welshman is United’s joint-highest assist provider with six assists.

Dan James scored in his United debut against Chelsea and has settled well in the Premier League. Since restart, he has lost his place to the talented Mason Greenwood. Dan James is determined to make a mark for himself at Old Trafford and is working his way back into the team.

Aaron Wan Bissaka joined from Crystal Palace and has turned to be arguably the best right-back in the Premier League this season. He has earned the nickname of “spider” because of his long legs that make him one of the best tacklers in the league. There has been hardly any player who has dribbled past him this season and the Englishman has had a stellar season.

Odion Ighalo was signed on-loan from China in the January transfer window sighting an injury to Marcus Rashford. Ighalo was termed as a “desperate signing” by United but has done very well since his arrival. Ighalo has been fantastic in cup competitions scoring five goals and providing an assist.

The Nigerian’s contract in January was due to end in June, but United have agreed on terms with his parent club. Ighalo will stay with Manchester United till at least January 2021. He is very reliable in front of goal and has been giving lessons to Anthony Martial in training, which has served Martial well.

Bruno Fernandes’s arrival to Old Trafford has brought life back into the Red Devils. He hasn’t lost a match in a United shirt yet, and the Red Devils are on a 16-match unbeaten streak. The Portuguese midfielder is surely the signing of the season in the Premier League.

Since he has come in, Bruno has played 10 games, has scored seven goals and provided six assists. It will be an understatement to say that he has settled well in the Premier League. He has been the lynchpin of everything going forward for United and has struck a great partnership with Paul Pogba.

The Red Devils are on their way of getting a place in the top-four spots in the Premier League. The signings this season have been great, and can hopefully emulate the same next season as well.
