As reported by the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United loanee Marcel Sabitzer has stated that he is open to the idea of moving to Old Trafford permanently in the summer.
The 28-year-old signed a temporary contract with the Red Devils till the end of the current campaign after leaving Bundesliga powerhouse Bayern Munich.
Erik ten Hag immediately selected Sabitzer as a transfer target after realising that Christian Eriksen will likely miss three months of action due to an ankle injury.
The Austrian defensive midfielder made his United debut as a substitute in the 2-1 Premier League victory over Crystal Palace. Since then, Casemiro has been suspended and Sabitzer has started United’s past two matches against Leeds United.
The midfielder has admitted that he is keeping his options open ahead of the 2023–24 season, and a recent report indicates that the Red Devils are eager to sign Sabitzer on a permanent basis next summer.
After joining Bayern Munich in the summer of 2021, Sabitzer struggled to establish himself as a regular starter under Julian Nagelsmann, starting just 11 of his 24 games for the German powerhouse in the first half of this season before transferring to Old Trafford last month.
The adaptable midfielder formerly played for RB Leipzig for seven years during which he established himself as a key first-team player, tallying 52 goals and 42 assists in 229 matches across all competitions.
We believe that United would sign him permanently for £20 million and also target a new midfielder in the summer.
