Marcus Rashford was in good form against Everton even if the team failed to win against a resilient Everton side at Goodison Park. It was the Englishman’s 200th appearance for the club and he certainly wanted to make it count by having a much bigger impact on the game.
Rashford had twice tested Everton goalkeeper Jordan Pickford on goal and those were on target shots. Rangnick had kept faith in him and decided to give him a chance to start from the very first minute.
It was a shock for him to be benched against Leicester City last week – when Cristiano Ronaldo was out with illness and Edinson Cavani was out with a calf injury – but Rashford can’t grumble too much because his form has been dreadful.
So Ralf Rangnick made a decision to start him and that decision itself broke a record for the club. Marcus Rashford became the youngest player to make 200th appearances for the club bettering Ryan Gigg’s record by 135 days.

He was the lone bright spot for United till the 60th minute before being subbed. The manager will be questioned for not letting him play the entire match as he was threatening the Everton defenders every now and then.
Rangnick although had an explanation as to why he started Marcus Rashford against the Toffees. While talking to the club’s official website, he said:
“He quite often has trained well and that’s why I decided to play him from the start today as one of three strikers. And I very much hope that he can transform the performance on the training pitch onto the pitch today.”
Marcus Rashford struggled to get going this season as he recovered from a shoulder injury. Since returning from surgery, the attacker has only managed to score five goals and contribute two assists.
However, don’t get fooled by the numbers as the striker was in a fine form last season. He has scored 59 goals and has provided 39 assists for the club. He is just two goal contributions away from reaching a century for his boyhood club.
We hope that this game could bring in the much-needed spark within him even if the team failed miserably against Everton.
