Manchester United have always produced great players from the club’s academy, some have made it big at United whereas others have moved on. Angel Gomes belongs to the latter group of players as the Englishman is now prospering at Boavista. In his recent interview with A Bola, Manchester United No.10, Marcus Rashford has talked about his former teammate Angel Gomes, and his experience with Gomes.
Earlier this summer, Angel Gomes left Manchester United as his contract expired with the club even after the club tried to extend the contract. Gomes had failed to cement his place in the first-team squad for the Red Devils and left to get more exposure. Since leaving, Gomes has done very well at Boavista and is currently enjoying his football.
In his recent interview, Rashford, talking about Gomes, said: “We speak regularly on the phone and have congratulated him several times. It’s a good sign. He scored that incredible midfield goal that went viral. A great goal really! But with his talent, nothing surprises me. He has incredible skill. Having trained with him since I was very young, it is easy to see his success and to guess his bright future.”
Angel Gomes is technically very sound but what kept him out of the matchday squads was his physicality. The Englishman is doing very well in Portugal and proving his worth for everyone to see as he expects to move to a better club and a bigger stage, sooner rather than later.
