Marcus Rashford’s dip in form is a major concern for Rangnick

As reported by the Daily Mail, Rashford’s loose attitude is a worrying sign for Manchester United and Ralf Rangnick. Against Norwich City, the English attacker was timid and shy to run forward.

Manchester United has won their last three Premier League games in a row, but there is still much to be done at Old Trafford.

Ralf Rangnick has played with a 4-2-2-2 formation currently, which appears to be working so far, but not as convincingly as hoped, with possession still being lost at the same rate as it was under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, and the team only scoring one goal in each of their first four games under their new manager.

Rangnick’s Red Devils lost possession 138 times against Norwich, with Bruno Fernandes losing the ball 26 times and Marcus Rashford losing the ball 20 times during the 1-0 triumph at Carrow Road, which saw Cristiano Ronaldo strike a penalty to clinch the three points.

It’s fair to say that Rashford hasn’t had the impact that was expected of him this season, and with Mason Greenwood in fine form, having been involved in three goals in the last five games, it makes far more sense to start the 20-year-old forward alongside Ronaldo.

Greenwood’s performance this season has been far more amazing than Rashford’s, with five goals and two assists, placing him two goals and one assist ahead of his colleague. In every game under Rangnick so far, the young £76.5m-rated attacker has shown desire and promise with dynamic displays where he is all over the pitch.

However, his inability to finish his chances or provide a large number of assists for his teammates in the final third could cost him his spot in the team swiftly, prompting Rashford to let him sit on the bench and give chance to other young forwards.

In a midweek match against Brentford, it will be intriguing to see if Rangnick keeps to his guns with Rashford or benched him in favour of Mason Greenwood or Edinson Cavani.
