According to German publication Bild, Borussia Monchengladbach striker Marcus Thuram is ready to turn down a January transfer to Newcastle United in favour of a move to Manchester United.
The Frenchman has less than six months left on his present contract, and the Bundesliga team is already considering a mid-season sale.
United is reportedly one of Thuram’s ideal destinations before the New Year, and they are ready to accept offers in the region of €12 million. Although it is said that Newcastle United and Aston Villa are also interested in signing him, they should hold off on making a bid because those teams won’t offer him much money.
This season, the Frenchman has helped Monchengladbach score 17 goals. He contributed to the final of the World Cup and was extremely crucial for France. Therefore, the 25-year-old is in the best shape of his life this season, and, given his strong offensive statistics, he may be a useful signing for United. This campaign, he has engaged in 23 successful takedowns while recording 85 progressive passes.
Along with his attacking skills, he has drawn attention for his relentless work ethic. He is capable of playing on the left wing or as the primary striker.
United should think about signing him in January for a reasonable transfer fee. Given that they would be getting an in-form attacker, it seems like a risk-free solution.
