Anthony Martial finished the season as Manchester United’s top scorer in all competitions and as joint-top scorer in the Premier League. The Frenchman has had his fair share of criticism throughout his United career but has silenced his critics this season. Martial has drastically improved several aspects of his game and is looking to win the hearts of United fans next season as well.
The United No.9 has enjoyed his best season in terms of goal-scoring and is confident to perform even better next season. The mercurial Frenchman ended the season with a tally of 23 goals in all competitions out of which, he has scored 17 in the Premier League. Despite criticism for ex-United players and other pundits, Solskjaer put his trust in Martial and the 24-year old didn’t disappoint the manager.
During an interview with Inside United Magazine, Martial said “I think it’s down to the fact that I’ve enjoyed more game time. I’ve played in practically every game and so I think it’s all about consistency.” He also added that “In previous seasons I haven’t been able to feature as regularly; I’d be on the bench quite a bit and other times I’d be starting, which was quite difficult.”
Martial is still questioned by pundits and ex-United players who believe the club still needs to buy a ‘real No.9’. But the Frenchman is ready to answer his critics by performances on the pitch.
