Manchester United No.9 Anthony Martial has had a stellar season last time around as he was United’s highest goalscorer in all competitions. The Frenchman deservedly got a call-up to the French squad for the Nations League and even performed well against Sweden. Lately, French captain Hugo Lloris has praised Martial and has explained the rise in Martial’s confidence after his good season with United.
Anthony Martial was arguably one of the best centre-forwards in the Premier League last season as he scored 17 goals. He deservingly got his national side call-up, but only played a little part in France’s last game, coming on late in the second half. But it has been reported that Martial will start in France’s next game, as Mbappe is suffering from the Coronavirus.
The French captain Lloris said: “I don’t know if it’s related to his relationship with Solskjaer. We can see he is more confident, there is a very good understanding with the players around him at Manchester United.” The France national team coach, Didier Deschamps, also heaped praise on Martial saying “He’s capable of playing in the wing also, but in Manchester he’s really a number nine.”
Deschamps also added that “He may not have the typical profile of a centre-forward although he has that versatility there. In recent months he has gained in regularity and constancy.” Anthony Martial will look to begin from where he left off in the Premier League last season and will try to get even more goals.
