Anthony Martial has had a poor start to the season after being Manchester United’s top scorer last season in all competitions. In the last few games, he has found it difficult to have an influence in the game and score goals for the Red Devils. In his recent talk at ESPN, Frank Leboeuf has said that Martial must learn to become a killer in the penalty box and score more.
Anthony Martial has been criticized because of his attitude off the ball and his lack of goals. Last night against West Brom, Martial was wasteful in front of goal as he missed a sitter in the first half of the game. He also failed to show any intent to score goals as he barely ran into the channels, as Cavani did.
In his talk, when asked about Martial’s performances, Leboeuf said: “Poor, really poor. I’m worried about Anthony Martial. He is a fantastic player and when he’s confident, he is okay. He played with the international team and missed three chances against Portugal. He missed another chance today. For a world-class player, it was an easy chance.”
Anthony Martial has been very inconsistent throughout his career so far and needs to score for often to be amongst the world’s best. The Frenchman surely has the talent and attributes to become world-class, but he needs to work hard on and off the pitch to have any chance of succeeding at Manchester United.
