According to Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw, Mason Greenwood has all the attributes to emulate Dutch legend Robin van Persie who won the Premier League title with the Red Devils.
Teenage sensation Mason Greenwood has been on the back of an impressive breakout campaign with Manchester United this season. Greenwood has managed to find the back of the net on 12 occasions while setting up four more assists despite coming off the bench 20 times out of his 36 appearances.
A real star in the making, the 18-year old’s potential has been hailed by United defender Luke Shaw. The 24-year-old Shaw earlier revealed that he is prepared to resume training with the 20-time English champions and recently tipped Greenwood to emulate former Man United star, Robin van Persie.
While writing on the clubs official website, Shaw marvelled at Greenwood’s potential to become a future superstar and compared the young Englishman to renowned goalscorer Robin van Persie.
“He’s had a fantastic first season in the first team. He’s clearly a natural goalscorer, This season – even though he doesn’t start all the time – his goals return and his stats are great, and he’s got some assists too. For someone so young, in their first season, he’s done brilliantly”, said Shaw.
The England defender further added that there is plenty to learn for Greenwood and he in on the tracks to becoming a renowned goalscorer, “He’s still got so much to learn, but if he carries on working hard and pushes himself every day then I don’t see why we can’t see him turn into another Robin van Persie or a player of that style that’ll score lots of goals for us.”
Van Persie spent a number of years at Arsenal before eventually moving to Old Trafford and winning the Premier League title in his first season with Manchester United.
