According to the Telegraph, Manchester United target Mason Mount is set to report for Chelsea’s pre-season training as his move to Old Trafford is still far from being completed.
Chelsea and United are reportedly at a standstill in negotiations over the transfer of the English midfielder. The Blues have rejected multiple bids from the Red Devils that fell below their valuation, and United are now unwilling to increase their last offer.
With the new season approaching in six weeks and preseason starting next week, both clubs ideally want their squads to be mostly settled by then, although this is often an unrealistic expectation.
Throughout the saga, Mount has remained silent, and according to the Telegraph, he will not cause any disruptions if his future is not decided soon.
He is said to be prepared to join preseason under new manager Mauricio Pochettino, who is set to take charge on July 1.

Meanwhile, Man United are still actively pursuing a deal for the 24-year-old. However, they are not ready to pay their rival’s asking price of £65 million for Mount. The Red Devils would be ready to sign the player if Chelsea accepted £50m for their academy graduate.
Erik ten Hag has already earmarked Brighton’s Moises Caicedo as an ideal midfield replacement if they fail to land Mount.
The Dutch boss is already facing uncertainties regarding the summer transfer budget. He would not like to waste his time in negotiations for a single player.
The transfer window is turning out to be more intense in the coming weeks.
