In a recent interview, Manchester United midfielder Juan Mata has begged for the influential duo of Paul Pogba and David De Gea to remain at Old Trafford amid the transfer speculation revolving around the two United stars.
La Liga giants Real Madrid have been linked with a move for French midfielder Paul Pogba after the 26-year-old midfielder hinted that he is keen on making the move to the Spanish capital to join the Los Blancos. Pogba has shown some good form in United’s preseason training and been termed to become the next captain at the club as he is impressing manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
And Mata has admitted that Pogba is a great influencer on the pitch and asked the midfield ace to remain at Old Trafford, “We all know Paul and he is a fantastic midfielder, and a very good guy, very positive, and a good influence for everyone. I think he is happy and brings everyone together, but I cannot speak for other people – I speak for myself. As a team-mate and a friend I would like him to stay and be happy because he is a very good player for us.”
Another player that has a few suitors ready to swoop in for his services at United is David De Gea. The Spanish star has grown into one of the best goalkeepers in the world over the past few years but is having a few issues with his contract which expires next summer.
The 28-year-old De Gea has attracted interest from Ligue 1 giants Paris Saint Germain but Mata has labeled his national compatriot the best goalkeeper in the world and hopes that United can keep hold of the shot-stopper even on a professional level. “David is the best goalkeeper in the world and one of my best friends so I want him to stay. On a professional level, it would be great if he stays because he will give us many points over the next season, so I’m very happy if he stays.”
