Under the Bosman ruling, a player is free to speak to foreign clubs when he has just six months left on his contract.

Juventus have a reputation for signing players on free transfers with players like former Liverpool midfielder Emre Can, former PSG man Adrian Rabiot and former Arsenal midfielder just some of the names who signed on free transfers with Juventus. Other names also include Sami Khedira and Paul Pogba.

Matic who signed for Manchester United from Chelsea in 2017 when Jose Mourinho was at the club has lost his place in the United side with manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer preferring Scott McTominay in midfield next to Pogba.

The 31-year-old made his first start in the Premier League this season against Leicester City with Paul Pogba out injured. Matic did not have the best of games against Leicester slowing down the play and failing to give his defense enough protection. He was replaced by fellow struggling midfielder Fred about an hour into the game.

With Paul Pogba likely to return for United’s next Premier League match against West Ham, Matic is unlikely to keep his place in the starting eleven although he is likely to play in the Europa League on Thursday against Kazakhstan side FC Astana.
