Paul Pogba has had an extremely difficult start to the season with coronavirus at the beginning of the season and now injuries. The Frenchman played well in the international break for France but he hasn’t done so for the Red Devils. In his latest interview with Pro Direct Soccer, Scott McTominay has defended Paul Pogba as the World Cup winner is going through a rough patch.
It was earlier reported the Pogba was planning to run down his contract at Manchester United, which ends at 2022. The French midfielder will be out of the Southampton game due to an ankle injury. Shockingly, McTominay has also picked up an injury and will be absent from the United squad against Southampton.
In his talk, McTominay said: “I remember watching Pogba at Juventus when I was in the reserves at United. I was like ‘this guy is ridiculous. People don’t know him. People don’t. They don’t know him for who he is. He is very misunderstood, in my opinion, for the way he is, his personality and what he brings the team.”
This is the second season running where Paul Pogba is suffering from an ankle injury and missing games for Manchester United. The Frenchman hasn’t been great until now this season and surely needs to get his act right to be a fan favourite once again. McTominay is right on his way of protecting Pogba but the Frenchman also needs to show in his actions that he still cares for Manchester United.
