Morne Esben has a great history with South Africa’s broadcast industry and is a news anchor, journalist as well as a stadium announcer. For anyone who knows him I do not need to mention that he is a big sports fanatic. His recent tweet about Manchester united and their inconsistency through the seasons is very apt. he states that any team has to be consistent over a longer period of time if they are to mount a sustained title challenge.
Manchester United may be in seventh heaven right now with an impressive victory over Southampton. Credit where is credit is due as they put in one of their best performances in a long time and were also helped by some rash Southampton decision making.
All of this is great and the fans were also in fine voice after this resounding victory but their form in the last three games again shows us why they haven’t won any silverware in a long time.

Manchester United has been showing some great form off late but again consistency plays a big part in long-term success and despite the fact that they have played some exciting football one cannot be entirely sure if their next fixture will be the same.
The contrasting result with a loss to Sheffield United, a draw to Arsenal, and a thundering victory against Southampton just highlights this point further. There is no doubt that this team has taken big strides as compared to where they were at the start of this season. This is good news for the club and the fans but will Manchester United really be able to challenge for titles if they aren’t able to keep their consistency.
