Morocco’s manager, Walid Regragui, has stated that Sofyan Amrabat was released from international duty as a precaution due to concerns about an injury.
Amrabat, who joined Manchester United on loan from Fiorentina this summer, had a back injury noted during his medical examination. Despite this, he initially joined up with the Moroccan national team for the ongoing international break.
However, after being observed in training, Amrabat decided to withdraw from the squad earlier this week. United have confirmed that he will return to Carrington for further evaluation of his condition.
As quoted by the Manchester Evening News, the Morocco boss said:
“Sofyan Amrabat felt something. We let him go as a precaution because he has just started his new adventure with Manchester United.”
Amrabat has been included in United’s squad and is now eligible to make his first appearance for the team when Brighton & Hove Albion play at Old Trafford on September 16th. However, it’s uncertain if he will be fit to participate.

Meanwhile, Morocco experienced a powerful earthquake with a magnitude of 6.8 overnight, resulting in at least 800 casualties, as reported by the country’s interior ministry.
