In a recent poll on Twitter, nearly 6000 fans voted for Alexis Sanchez to leave Manchester United in this summer transfer window following a nightmare 18-month spell with the Red Devils.
Sanchez made the move from Arsenal to Manchester United as Henrikh Mkhitaryan went the other way in the January transfer window last year. However, his highly anticipated move to Old Trafford did not go down as well as most of the United faithful would have expected.
The 30-year-old forward was one of the most lethal attackers in the Premier League when he donned the Arsenal jersey but has not been able to showcase similar abilities with Manchester United. Sanchez is on a staggering £450,000 a week contract but has only managed to play the full 90 minutes on one occasion which was incidentally the first game of the season against Leicester City.
Most of the time, Sanchez is on the bench and utilized sparingly. This has put the United in a tough spot considering his wages and inability to produce the goods on the pitch. Even Sanchez himself could be on his way out of Old Trafford this summer because of his underwhelming performances. A question on social media was put out which asked, What Should United Do with Sanchez This Summer?
The Twitter poll confirmed that 72% of the fans want Sanchez out of Manchester United with only 12% wanting him to remain at Old Trafford. 6% of the fans want the Chilean to be loaned out to another club while the remaining 10% would like the club to pay him off for the rest of his three-year deal.
