Former Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has aimed a sly dig at current boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer by saying that he should ‘focus more on the present and not speak about the future all the time’.
Solskjaer began his spell at Old Trafford with 10 wins out of 11 matches but there have only been five victories from 21 games since he was given the job permanently at the end of March.
Mourinho accused Solskjaer of doing ‘good PR’ in the build-up to the game against Liverpool.
Speaking on Sky Sports, Mourinho said: ‘They did some good PR in the week to make it absolutely clear or create positive atmosphere for the game. I’m going to try and get a job like Ole has, and speak all the time about the future.
‘I think it’s a great situation, three-year contract – the future, the young players. I think it’s a great job to do in such a giant club.’
Mourinho’s Manchester United took on Liverpool in December in 2018, which was the final time he walked out as United manager. His position had become untenable, and the fans who so craved his arrival had started to turn, sharply
Solskjaer’s United avoided the same fate and instead showed resilience and grit to hold Liverpool to a 1-1 draw at Old Trafford.
Mourinho is yet to find a new job since leaving United last December but has worked as a Sky Sports pundit while searching for a new job and has been linked with Real Madrid and Tottenham in recent months.
