Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is confident that Jose Mourinho will receive a warm reception from the supporters when he brings his Tottenham Hotspur to Old Trafford on Wednesday.
The 56-year-old ‘Special One’ will make his return to the Theatre Of Dreams as a manager for the first time since being sacked by the Red Devils last year in December.
Mourinho was appointed as Tottenham boss after the North London giants decided to dismiss Mauricio Pochettino on November 20 and have steered his side to three consecutive wins across all competitions so far making an immediate impact.
During his time in charge of Manchester United, Mourinho guided the red side of Manchester to the EFL Cup and Europa League triumph in a two-and-a-half years stint and Solskjaer has admitted that he should receive a kind gesture from the United fans.
While speaking to reporters, the 46-year-old Norwegian explained the reason why Mourinho will be greeted well by the United faithful, “[He will receive a] very good reception; that’s just a testament to this club and these supporters. Of course, they remember the two-and-a-half years when he won trophies. So, for me, I’m 100 percent sure our fans, staff, and club will welcome him.”
Manchester United has endured a difficult start to the Premier League campaign and are languishing in ninth position on the table winning only four out of their opening 14 games so far. The club decided to sack Mourinho in December 2018 and was succeeded by Solskjaer.
