Napoli slap hefty price tag on United target Victor Osimhen

According to the Manchester Evening News, Napoli has slapped a huge price tag on Manchester United target Victor Osimhen.

The Red Devils and Newcastle United were said to be interested in the Nigerian striker in the summer, but no deal materialised. In addition to the two Premier League teams, Chelsea has also expressed interest in him.

The 23-year-old signed for Napoli in 2020. Since then, he has played in 71 matches for the Italian team, scoring 33 goals and dishing out 10 assists. Last season, he assisted his team in finishing third in the Serie A standings.

This season, he has scored four goals in seven league games, keeping Napoli atop the league standings. The Nigerian striker has a hefty price tag of €100 million, despite the Italian club’s desire to keep their prized possession. For a while now, Manchester United has been searching for a striker. Anthony Martial, who has experienced injury problems, has only made four appearances in all competitions so far this season.

While this is happening, Cristiano Ronaldo hasn’t been at his best this season, scoring just twice in 12 games. Erik ten Hag has occasionally used Marcus Rashford as a striker, although he has played the No. 9 position mostly.

Next summer, Manchester United will need a proper No. 9, but the high cost of Osimhen may make them think twice before targeting the striker.
