Newcastle ready to target Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw

According to the Manchester Evening News, Newcastle United is preparing an outrageous bid for Manchester United left-back Luke Shaw.

The Magpies are keeping an eye on Shaw’s status as they try to strengthen their team under Eddie Howe. Tyrell Malacia has currently dominated the left-back spot with his spectacular performances since signing for the club in the summer.

The 23-year-old has brought more stability both in attack and defense, and Ten Hag has find it easier to integrate the Dutch star in his line-up.

Given that Shaw’s contract with United expires in 2023, his future at the theatre of dreams seems uncertain. United does have the ability to trigger a one-year extension but it may depend on the English defender’s performance at the World Cup.

At Old Trafford, Shaw’s career has been a mixed bag. The Englishman’s performance drastically went down after his heroic display in 2021-22 season for both club and country.

He has since had difficulty mounting a successful comeback, ultimately losing his position on the team. It might be advantageous for both parties to accept a transfer to Newcastle.

However, Ten Hag still believes in Shaw’s ability after he had a good run of international games with England in September. It remains to be seen whether the left-back will be able to impress the manager before the next summer transfer window.
