Newcastle United 1-4 Manchester United Match Report | EPL 2020-21

Manchester United come back strong in the Premier League when the rest of the top guns failed to produce the goods. The Red Devils thrashed four goals past Newcastle with a flurry of goals coming in the last 10 minutes of the game. The positives to take away from the game were Bruno Fernandes, Marcus Rashford, Harry Maguire and David De Gea, all had a very good game.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer had picked a rather weak starting XI against Newcastle, probably due to the Champions League game in midweek. The Red Devils were off to the worst possible start as Newcastle scored via an own goal from Luke Shaw in only the second minute of the game. But from then Manchester United took charge and kept the ball well.

The likes of Bruno Fernandes and Juan Mata kept the ball well and moved it quickly around Newcastle’s box. In the 23rd minute, Manchester United won a corner, from which Maguire scored his first goal of the season. Bruno Fernandes also scored a stunning goal, which was later ruled out by VAR due to an offside in the buildup to the goal.

Slowly and gradually, Manchester United grew in confidence, but Newcastle counter-attacked a couple of times with great effect. David De Gea was United’s saviour last night as the Spaniard had a great game in goal and saved a couple of great chances. Marcus Rashford earned a penalty in the 58th minute, and Bruno stepped up to take it but shockingly missed the penalty.

In and around the hour mark, Solskjaer made some important changes as Paul Pogba and Van de Beek, which shifted the advantage completely towards United. From then on it was wave after wave of United attack as finally, Bruno finished off a sleek move from the Red Devils. Soon after, Wan-Bissaka scored the first goal of his professional career after he blasted the ball from close range.

In the dying minutes of the game, Rashford wrapped up the victory for Manchester United in a sweeping move. The Red Devils will be proud of the performance they put in last night after going down early. Next up Manchester United face PSG in the Champions League and will be eager to show their class in Europe’s biggest competition.
