As reported by Fabrizio Romano, Newcastle United will make a fresh bid for Dean Henderson when the transfer window reopens, with Eddie Howe identifying goalkeeping as one of the major areas he wants to improve this summer.
While Martin Dubravka has been a consistent performer since returning to Newcastle’s starting lineup in late November, Howe is said to be concerned about the Slovakian’s lack of competition in the current squad.
This summer Newcastle will focus on signing Dean Henderson on a permanent basis rather than attempting to negotiate another loan transfer.
English goalkeeper Henderson is said to be unhappy with his lack of playing time at Manchester United this season, with David de Gea solidifying his position as the club’s number one goalkeeper.

Last season, the 25-year-old was preferred to de Gea on several occasions, and he came into this season with high expectations of replacing the Spaniard as Manchester United’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Instead, his first-team appearances this season have been limited to just three cup games, and he was left out of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for the upcoming friendlies against Switzerland and Ivory Coast.
Because the shot-stopper’s current contract does not expire until the summer of 2025, Manchester United is in a great position to sell him for a profitable price.
However, if Newcastle stays in the Premier League this season, as appears to be the case following their recent fine form, the club’s Saudi Arabian owners would back their manager to sign a new goalkeeper.
Goalkeepers Bernd Leno of Arsenal and Sam Johnstone of West Bromwich Albion have been mooted as potential replacements, but Henderson is widely regarded as Newcastle’s top choice.
