According to ESPN, Newcastle United are not interested in signing Cristiano Ronaldo this January.
Several reports started flowing in claiming that Eddie Howe’s side are keeping tabs on the Portuguese striker. However, those claims have been rebuked by ESPN’s Rob Dawson.
The Magpies are already stacked with attacking options and they want to sign a player who has far less wage demands. It is highly unlikely for Ronaldo to join a direct rival team.
The 37-year-old star departed from Old Trafford after scoring 145 goals in 346 appearances for the English giants. The striker’s agent Jorge Mendes will be on a hunt for a new challenge for his client. Several clubs are linked with a move for the legendary goal scorer, however, not every team can afford his expensive wages. Only a handful of clubs have the resources to handle his demands.
There are no negotiations ongoing for Cristiano Ronaldo to join Newcastle, despite rumours. Been told talks are not taking place as things stand. 🚨⚪️⚫️ #NUFC

Clubs like Bayern Munich, Atletico Madrid, Napoli and Borussia Dortmund have rejected the chance to sign him. However, Sporting CP and a Saudi-based club are interested in the striker’s services.
Chelsea owner Todd Boehly will be keen on signing Ronaldo but it remains unclear whether the American owner decides to pursue a deal in the upcoming months. Manchester City are already out of the race as they signed former Dortmund star Erling Haaland in the latest summer transfer window.
