According to the latest reports, Lille forward Nicolas Pepe is close to making a move to Serie A club Napoli but Premier League outfit Manchester United are also monitoring his services.
Manchester United endured quite a torturous season in the Premier League last term as they finished in sixth place in the Premier League table and manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has a massive task on his hands to build on the current team. The Norwegian boss has to spend on players in the summer and bring in more reinforcements despite signing Daniel James and Aaron Wan Bissaka.
The 46-year-old Solskjaer is keen on bringing in some attacking players to the club and has lined up a possible move for Liverpool target and Lille forward Nicolas Pepe this summer. The Red Devils are keen on bolstering their attacking department and a Pepe had an outstanding season last term scoring 22 goals and notching up 11 assists as well.
But Pepe has attracted plenty of interest from several top clubs in the continent and even Serie A club Napoli is monitoring his situation. In fact, the Partenopei manager Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that Pepe’s agent had met with the Italian club’s at the team hotel to talk about potential transfers. The 60-year-old Ancelotti said, “I’ve met with Pepe’s agents, they were at our hotel. It is normal that we would meet to discuss eventual negotiations. It is pointless to hide it with his agents here: we are interested in Pepe. Pepe is a wide attacking player. We want to find someone who can play between the lines, without forgetting that Milik is a center-forward, but also strong with his feet.”
The Ivorian is also subject to Manchester United’s plans as Belgian forward Romelu Lukaku is probably going to leave the club this summer transfer window and Pepe could be an ideal replacement for the 26-year-old center-forward.
