Manchester United boss Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has admitted that the Red Devils are unlikely to re-sign Joshua King from Bournemouth before the transfer deadline at the end of the month.
Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe suggested on Friday that King could return to the Theatre Of Dreams in order to bolster their attacking options. Although the Norwegian striker is currently sidelined with a hamstring injury there was a chance that Solskjaer could bring his national compatriot back to United.
King came through the youth ranks at United and made his debut back in 2009, but he only made one more senior appearance for the English giants before leaving for Blackburn Rovers following a four-year stint.
The 28-year-old is now the leading goalscorer for the Cherries and has made a big impact for Eddie Howe’s team this term by helping them this term and that has also attracted interest from his former club United.
Solskjaer was then asked about the prospect of signing King on the transfer deadline day, but the 46-year-old said that the club is not open for any more business in the market, “I don’t think we’ll do any more business, no, I don’t think so.”
The Red Devils are currently five points behind Chelsea in fourth place and having signed Bruno Fernandes from Sporting Lisbon earlier this week, United will be hoping to cover up that gap.
